New EV charging network backed by 7 major automakers begins operations in North America

Back in July 2023, a group of seven major automakers announced plans to form a public charging joint venture along the lines of the European consortium Ionity. EV fans welcomed the plan to deploy some 30,000 fast charging stations throughout North America, but we’ve heard very little since.

Smaller electric Toyota BZ3X spotted in Detroit

Despite rightly hedging its bets against an all-electric future by offering a portfolio of hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Toyota is still choosing to put a few eggs in the EV basket. Ford is building a low-cost EV platform with some of the ‘best EV engineers’ to rival Tesla

Ford (F) assembled a “super-talented skunk works team” to build a low-cost EV platform. The small team consisted of “some of the best EV engineers in the world,” according to Ford’s CEO Jim Farley. It will be used to launch several new software-defined electric models.
